Reasons Why Tesla Is Great for Dog Owners

Dog lovers are always searching for a car that meets their furry friends’ needs. In the past, that usually meant making sure your vehicle was large enough to accommodate your pooch, but modern technology is adding a whole new dynamic into the mix.

Elon Musk, the brain behind the cutting-edge Tesla brand, has introduced a new feature called “Dog Mode” to all their cars via an over-the-air software update. This unique feature is the perfect fix for owners running errands with their dogs in the car.

What Is Dog Mode?

Through any Tesla’s touchscreen, an owner can activate Dog Mode. This setting allows them to pick a comfortable temperature inside the cabin even while the car’s engine is turned off. The car’s battery continues to run the climate control system, keeping your dog warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Dog Mode also lets a passerby know that it’s running. An animated dog appears on the screen, wagging its tail, with a message that reads “My owner will be back soon. Don’t worry!” and displays the temperature in the cabin. With so many reports of people trying to break dogs out of cars, sometimes leading to the need for a Hermosa auto accident attorney, this is a wonderful feature.

While some owners are concerned about the size of the text on the screen, Musk said that Tesla will be updating the feature after it rolls out to make adjustments. In the meantime, all current Tesla models are being equipped with Dog Mode through a software update.

Sentry Mode

Adding to the reasons Tesla is an excellent option for dog owners is Sentry Mode. This update is designed to keep your car safe, dog inside or otherwise, but certainly doubles as a way to ensure your furry friends are protected.

Sentry Mode detects minimal and severe threats. A minimal threat would be something like an individual leaning on your car. The system begins to monitor the car’s environment via the camera system, displaying a warning on the touchscreen to let people know it is recording. An alert is also sent to the owner’s phone via the Tesla app.

Severe threats include things like a window breaking or someone wrecking into your vehicle. This activates Alarm Mode, which puts the touchscreen’s brightness all the way up and plays music through your speakers at full bast.

The system records the incident as well as the previous ten minutes on a USB drive inside the car, which is exceptional proof if you need to hire an automobile accident attorney in Orange County. Like Alert Mode, drivers also receive a notification via the app.

While you do have to activate Sentry Mode every time you want to use it, this is an excellent way to ensure your dogs and car remain safe from criminals. Combined with Dog Mode, you can carry on with the day’s chores knowing that your canine companions are well taken care of while their in your Tesla.
